Photographs of trains may seem powerfully statuesque, and photos of spaceships may be an incomprehensible marvel, but when it comes to photos of modes of transport, I am most often impressed with ships. Maybe it is seeing tumultuous water stilled. Whatever it is, when looking at a photo of a ship, it’s like I’m looking at a defiance of all the laws and rules of science. That’s what I think anyway.
